Last year’s CFL ouststanding player is headed to Toronto. The Roughriders traded starting quarterback Kerry Joseph to the Argonauts for defensive end Ronald Flemons, offensive tackle Glenn January and a 2009 draft pick, Sportsnet.ca has learned.

Joseph will be introduced at a media conference in Toronto on Thursday. At the same time the Argos will announce they’ve signed quarterback Michael Bishop to a contract extension.

Joseph had the best season of his career in 2007. He played in 17 games for the Roughriders, completing 58.2 per cent of his passes for 4,002 yards, 24 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He also rushed for 13 touchdowns, second most in CFL history.

In addition to earning the league’s top award during the regular season, Joseph led his team to a Grey Cup championship over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was seeking a raise after taking a significant pay cut last year.
