Argos bit by cats
Courtesy Toronto Star:
There is no quarterback controversy in the Toronto Argonauts camp today.
Who has time for that when the Argos have to find a way to get a punchless offence moving and the team’s highly rated defence back on track?
The question of whether Kerry Joseph or Michael Bishop should start seems irrelevant after the Argos were humiliated 32-13 by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in their home opener last night at the Rogers Centre.
That’s not a misprint. Those are the same Tiger-Cats who hadn’t won here since 2001, finished last season with a 3-15 record and looked like a bad high school team in their season opener.
This is apparently why they play the games.
In a stunning role reversal, the Ticats looked like the poised favourites and the uninspired Argos the error-prone underachievers.
The Ticats ran for an incredible 311 yards, caught passes and made tackles while the Argos didn’t do much in any of those departments.
“The defence didn’t lose this football game,” said veteran Argonaut safety Orlondo Steinauer. “Everybody did. We didn’t move the ball, we had average special teams. We got beat in every phase of the football game as far as I’m concerned.
“They did a good job, we did a crappy job.”
There was no disputing that.
