Argos upset with Riders

The Argonauts may yet lose offensive co-ordinator Steve Buratto.

The Grey Cup champion Saskatchewan Roughriders have received permission to interview him for their head coaching job, left empty by the departure of Kent Austin to his alma mater, the University of Mississippi.

The highly regarded Buratto was also a candidate for the head coaching position with the Montreal Alouettes but lost out to Marc Trestman.

The Argos, however, denied Saskatchewan permission to interview recently promoted defensive co-ordinator Kavis Reed for that position with the Roughies.

Argos general manager Adam Rita was upset the Riders let word leak about their desire to talk to his two co-ordinators and especially the Reed denial.

“It’s kind of crappy that someone would say that when (permission/denial) was given in confidence,” Rita said. “Now we have to deal with it at our end.”
