Bolden backup plan

Courtesy Winnipeg Sun:
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers finally got down to the business of why they came here, hitting the practice field for the first time in preparation for Sunday’s Grey Cup.
Unfortunately for the Blue and Gold, however, cornerback Juran Bolden was nowhere to be seen.
Bolden pulled his hamstring in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s East Division final win over the Toronto Argonauts, and he didn’t practise yesterday. He’s listed as day-to-day.
“He has to go on Day 3,” head coach Doug Berry said. “He has to practise Friday. If he does not practise Friday, he’s out.”
Greg Moss, who has never suited up in a playoff game, let alone a Grey Cup, practised in Bolden’s position yesterday. Davin Bush got quite a few reps as well.
GOOD START: Head coach Doug Berry was impressed with his team’s two-hour workout yesterday.
“It was great. We had good energy, a lot of excitement,” Berry said. “It was nice to get a little bit of the trip out of ourselves. We had good focus today. I know we won’t be maintaining that for probably the next 48 hours, but while we’re on the field, that’s what’s important.”
Bombers right tackle Dan Goodspeed was also pleased with his team’s first preparation session for Sunday’s match against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
“They’re unique in what they do (on defence),” Goodspeed said, “so I think everybody was on the same page already, which is good.”
There was another bonus at yesterday’s workout: no snow and no wind chill factor.
“It was different because it was warm,” Goodspeed said. “I wasn’t sure what to wear.”
ESPIONAGE CENTRAL? The Bombers and Saskatchewan Roughriders will get to practise away from the prying eyes of the media today, although Goodspeed had an excellent question yesterday.
“What’s stopping them from watching our stuff?” he asked.
He’s right. There are dozens of windows at Rogers Centre that look out on to the Rogers Centre field. In fact, all one has to do is ask for a window seat in the Arriba Restaurant, which is located in the Renaissance Hotel lobby, to get a clear view of the turf.
LATE HITS: A quartet of Bombers, including quarterback Ryan Dinwiddie, appeared on TSN’s Off the Record last night. Doug Brown, Troy Westwood and Matt Sheridan were the other panel members. A repeat of the show can be seen today at 11 a.m. … Winnipeg kick returner Keith Stokes was named the CFL’s special teams player of the week yesterday. Stokes had an 81-yard punt return touchdown in Sunday’s East Division final … The Bombers are riding their first three-game winning streak of the season … Winnipeg native Glen Johnson, now a resident of southern Ontario, will be the referee on Sunday.
