Bombers add 3

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ defensive depth chart grew by three on Wednesday with the addition of two linebackers and one defensive back.

Two of the players will be recognizable to Bomber diehards as linebacker Marcus Winn and Art Thomas, a versatile defensive back/linebacker, were under contract a year ago while linebacker/end Tim McManigal will challenge for work as a CFL rookie.

Winn (6-1, 210, Alabama State) suited up for three games with the Bombers last year after his release from the Edmonton Eskimos and the club sees him as a player who could challenge Cam Hall for the starting WILL linebacker spot.

Thomas (6-3, 210, Virginia) came to the Bombers last September and was on the practice roster, but did not see any game action. The coaches see him as a versatile athlete who can play linebacker or defensive back. He actually began his playing career as a receiver. He has had stints with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, New York Giants and Jets and the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europa after starring in college with the Cavaliers.
