Bombers shuffle roster
Courtesy Winnipeg Sun:
Brendan Taman brought out the scissors again yesterday, cutting three more players in an effort to meet the CFL’s salary cap this season.
The Winnipeg Blue Bomber GM’s highest profile victim was defensive back Davin Bush, who signed a six-figure contract last February to replace Stanford Samuels but didn’t make much of an impact in 2007.
“He filled a void when we lost Stanford last year, but really, he had a tough spell getting healthy and really never fit in to what we were doing here,” Taman said. “Rightfully or wrongfully, we just didn’t see him fitting into our future plans.
“I still think he’s a pretty good player, but it just didn’t work out for him here.”
Canadian offensive lineman Paul Archer was also let go, while third-string quarterback Kliff Kingsbury, who was drafted into the new All- American Football Conference last weekend, was officially release
