Carter still has some football in him

After 11 long years in the football wilderness, Khalil Carter hopes he’s finally found a home.
And since the Toronto Argonauts traded their all-star cornerback for two players now on the injured list, the team is hoping his hopes come true.
Carter has been tabbed to replace Jordan Younger at the corner and so far in training camp hasn’t disappointed anyone.
“K.C.’s been with us in the past so he knows the system and he knows what we expect out of that position,” said head coach Rich Stubler. “He’s got great physical abilities, he sees things very well.”
Carter’s career has been a long and winding one with more stops than a discount airline flight. Since leaving the University of Southern Arkansas, he has worn the Arena Football League jerseys of the Milwaukee Mustangs, Tampa Bay Storm, Toronto Phantoms, Arizona Twisters, Nashville Katz, Orlando Predators and Kansas City Brigade.
He had a brief tryout with the Buffalo Bills and played for the Scottish Claymores before landing in Toronto in 2005, though he continued to play in arenas after the CFL season.
Carter said all that bouncing off arena boards has prepared him to step into Younger’s rather prodigious cleats.
“I think I got picked because I’m probably the next best pure cover corner in line,” said the Little Rock, Ark., native. “I have 11 seasons of playing mostly man-to-man.”
