CFL Digest sits down and does Q & A with Kerry Joseph
Courtesy CFL Digest:
The Guru is back with his second big time interview. This week 2007 Grey Cup winner and Most Outstanding Player Kerry Joseph sits down with us.
First off Kerry, thanks so much for taking the time to sit down to answer a few questions with us.
Kerry on the CFL and his time in Regina:
CFL Digest: After playing in the NFL as a safety, did you ever think you would get the chance to play quarterback as a pro again, let alone win the Most Outstanding Player award in a league where the QB position is so vital?
KJ: I was not sure if I would get a chance again, but it was always in the back of my mind. Winning the MOP was very special and I think God did have a plan for me.

CFL Digest: Last year was really a dream season for you, most outstanding player in the CFL and winning the Grey Cup. Was it tough in the off-season to motivate yourself after having such a successful season last year?
KJ: it was not tough because I wanted to have a repeat performance.
—————————————————————————————-
CFL Digest: Kerry, this is your 6th season in the CFL. What changes have you seen in the league since you first arrived in 2003?
KJ: The league is very competitive since they have put the salary cap in place.
—————————————————————————————-

CFL Digest: You are heading back to Saskatchewan to take on the Riders July 27th. Will it be an emotional return for you? What kind of reception do you expect from the rider faithful?
KJ: It will be an emotional return because I have great friends on that team. I think it will be a great reception until the game gets started then the rider pride will kick in.
Kerry and his new role in Toronto………..
CFL Digest: What differences are expected of you in this new offense compared to what you were doing in Saskatchewan last season?
KJ: It is not much different because I have the opportunity to throw and run as I did in Saskatchewan.
—————————————————————————————-
CFL Digest: How has the transition to the new offense been?
KJ: It has been a work in progress. I am learning more of the offense and getting a feel of the guys who I am playing with.
—————————————————————————————-
CFL Digest: Recently you started calling your own plays, when was the last time you did that and how do you feel about opportunity to do so?
KJ: I actually had the opportunity to call some plays last year and I think it helped me to be prepared for an opportunity like this. I am getting more comfortable every time.
—————————————————————————————-
CFL Digest: Now that the quarterback controversy is over in Toronto and you’re the #1 guy, do you feel some of the pressure is off your back?
KJ: I never take the pressure of myself because I want to preform at my highest level. I put more pressure on myself than anyone putting pressure on me.
—————————————————————————————-

CFL Digest: What has the last month felt like to be Kerry Joseph the football player?
KJ: It has been a little frustrating but it has been a month that has made me a stronger person. It’s reality that nobody will ever give you anything, you have to earn it.
General Q & A……
CFL Digest: Who is the hardest hitter in the league?
KJ: Trey Young & Kenny Wheaton
—————————————————————————————-
CFL Digest: Who do you think is the best QB in the CFL right now?
KJ: Kerry Joseph
—————————————————————————————-
CFL Digest: Who’s the most under rated player in this league?
KJ: Wes Cates
—————————————————————————————-
CFL Digest: In your locker room who is the guy that is always talking smack or being a jokester?
KJ: Adriani Belli
—————————————————————————————-
CFL Digest: Rumor has it you boot the ball with your left foot. You ever get out in practice and boot a few around with the kickers?
KJ: I do punt with my left foot and I do kick a few around in practice.
—————————————————————————————-
CFL Digest: What’s one thing people don’t know about Kerry Joseph the person?

I enjoyed your commentaries this week - keeping the bias out. I guess we will find out if Burris is that good soon.
