Coe departs Calgary with class

Less than an hour after being released by the Calgary Stampeders, linebacker Scott Coe couldn’t have been blamed for wanting to cut all of his ties with the Canadian Football League club.
Instead, he honoured a commitment he’d made prior to getting the axe from head coach and general manager John Hufnagel on Wednesday morning. Coe made a corporate appearance on behalf of the team, schmoozed with some business people and signed some footballs.
“I was a little upset about it when it happened, but what can I say?” said the Winnipeg product, who turned 28 on Sunday. “I love the city of Calgary, I didn’t want to leave. But that’s the way the business is. I remember my buddy (former Stamps linebacker) John Grace. He said, if you’ve never been traded, cut or released, you haven’t played in the CFL long enough.”
