Davis to Replace Pearson

The Argonauts have looked to a familiar face to fill the huge vacancy created in their offensive line with the loss of left tackle Mike Pearson.

Yesterday they re-signed tackle Jerome Davis, who started for the club for two years before joining Hamilton this season. The Ticats released him Oct. 6.

Pearson suffered a broken ankle Saturday in Toronto’s 41-13 road win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was injured when centre Chad Folk rolled on to Pearson’s ankle after being tackled by a Riders player.

Toronto clinched first place in the East Division with Saturday’s win to secure home-field advantage for the conference final Nov. 18 at Rogers Centre.

Davis began his CFL career in 2000 with the Calgary Stampeders as a defensive lineman and was later signed by the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. He also spent time with NFL Europe’s Frankfurt Galaxy.
