Dickenson set to return home

Dave Dickenson apparently is coming home.
The Calgary Stampeders have called a news conference for today at McMahon Stadium, where it’s expected they’ll announce the signing of the 35-year-old quarterback, who still keeps his off-season home in the city.
Stampeders officials wouldn’t confirm the signing Wednesday night, while Dickenson’s agent, Ken Staninger, refused to comment.
At this point, Dickenson’s expected to play a backup role to Henry Burris, which would presumably be reflected in his salary. Dickenson reportedly made $400,000 with the B.C. Lions last season. Burris is coming off a season in which he threw a career-high 34 touchdowns.
Stamps offensive lineman Bobby Singh would welcome Dickenson.
“I hope he signs with Calgary. It’s obviously a good fit for him,” said Singh, who played with Dickenson with the Lions. “Dave is a straight shooter. He’s all about winning championships, and he’s definitely going to make us a better ball team with his experience. He’ll be the best backup in the league.”
