Dickenson still has itch

There is no obvious medical condition to describe the mental state of Dave Dickenson these days, no small statement for a quarterback with his understanding of anatomy given the assortment of injuries he’s sustained over his career.

There’s sure nothing wrong with his hearing. He knows there are those ranging from network television analysts with a pulpit down to the casual fan who feel a return to the CFL after three concussion episodes in 21 months is too great a risk to place on his future. Pack it in, they say. Give up.

He admits his personal happiness weighs just as heavily when assessing his next career move. Dickenson’s chances of returning to the Lions is directly tied to whether the team can re-sign Jarious Jackson, and if that happens he’ll only play someplace else in the league if it’s the right fit.
