Eight years after the Giz retired, the Edmonton Eskimos are still looking for a kick/punt returner.

Initially, the Eskimos thought Donnie Ashley could replace Gizmo.

Then they thought Winston October was the answer. And for a while he was.

“We’re going into the two pre-season games evaluating everybody in every position. Not just in the return game,” said Thorpe, who, like whoever wins the kick- and/or punt-returning roles, is new to the job in Edmonton.

First in line is Keith Stokes, ex of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes.
