Esk’s in position to bring in some talent

John Avery is tired of telling the joke about the running back who gets paid to watch other men carry the football.
Real life tends to creep into every comedian’s material, and Avery is no different. So the diminutive tailback sought refuge over the last four years in his stand-up routines at clubs throughout Toronto.
Looking back, Avery blames his predicament on fumbling a contract
offer in 2004 from the Edmonton Eskimos. Fresh off a stint with the National Football League Minnesota Vikings,
Avery chose to sign as a free agent with the Toronto Argonauts.
