Glenn and Charlton want new deals

Courtesy TSN:

If the Winnipeg Blue Bombers want to keep their East Division championship team together, it may take some more money.

According to the Winnipeg Sun, quarterback Kevin Glenn and linebacker Ike Charlton are looking for raises after enjoying successful seasons.

Glenn, who broke his arm in the East Final and did not play in the Grey Cup, led the league in passing and was the East nominee for Most Outstanding Player. It is expected the broken arm will take two months to heal and he should be ready for training camp.

Glenn is entering his option year so the NFL is a possibility but he doesn’t foresee a problem working out a new deal in Winnipeg.

“I think we’ll go back to the table,” Glenn told the Winnipeg Sun. “I’ve never had a problem in the past with it and I don’t expect a problem with it now. Given the situation and how I played this year and where we got to, I think it will work itself out.”

Charlton is also entering his option year which means he is eligible to sign with an NFL team but it appears he would rather stay with the Bombers.

“I want to be back here,” Charlton told the Winnipeg Sun. “Hopefully, I showed them again this year why I’m important to this defence. Hopefully, I showed them again why I should be compensated like one of the best linebackers, or one of the best SAM (strong-side) linebackers, because you look at a lot of other teams, they try to mirror-image what I do, as far as playing in the box and going out and covering receivers.”

Veteran cornerback Juran Bolden is still hoping to catch on with an NFL team but he may return to the Blue Bombers if nothing works out.

  1. Kevin deserves a raise….without him they don’t get anywhere near the Grey Cup this past year.
