Offensive lineman Andrew Greene felt it was only right he should retire as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Greene re-signed with the Riders on Monday and then immediately announced his retirement.
“The best years of my career were spent with the Riders,” Greene said in a statement. “That’s where I played the longest and it has become my home. The fans are great people and I was welcomed by the city and province in every way possible.”
Greene was a member of the Riders in 1997 and from 1999-2006. During his time there, he was named a CFL all-star four times and won the CFL’s most outstanding lineman award in 2003.
Greene also suited up with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2007 before wrapping up his playing days with the Toronto Argonauts for part of the 2008 CFL season.
