Hamilton: Secondary must improve this year

Prospective Tiger-Cat cornerback Dennis Mitchell ripped Kelvin Kight’s helmet off during a receiver blocking drill.

Then Mitchell got into the receiver’s grill when the latter objected to the rough treatment.

“I’ll be here all day long,” Mitchell barked at his teammate before the two were separated.

A few minutes later prospective Tiger-Cat defensive back Chris Thompson picked off one of Richie Williams’s throws, much to the delight of his defensive chums.

What’s this we see early at Tiger-Cat training camp at the Ronnie Joyce? Cat pass defenders dropping shoulders into receivers. Cat pass defenders hawking opposition passes?

If the Cats are going to enjoy any real success this season, there’s going to have to be more of this.
