The Hamilton Tiger-Cats selected University of Saskatchewan Huskies safety Dylan Barker with the first overall pick in today’s Canadian Football League draft.
Barker, a 6-foot-4 and 200-pound Moose Jaw product, was a first-team all-Canadian in 2007 after recording 53 tackles, three interceptions and four pass knockdowns for the Huskies.
He had been touted as the likely No. 1 pick for several weeks leading up to the draft — particularly after the CFL’s evaluation camp at which he finished at or near the top in several tests.
