Hunt signs in Montreal
Courtesy Regina Leader Post:
Durable linebacker Reggie Hunt, who missed only one game because of injuries through six CFL seasons, won’t be rejoining the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Hunt has agreed to contract terms with the Montreal Alouettes, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. Hunt, 30, has been a free agent since Friday.
A four-time divisional all-star, Hunt missed one regular-season game in 2006 when the coaching staff rested him for a meaningless game, and he was sidelined for the 17th game of 2007 to rest an arm injury.
Hunt was apparently paid $110,000 last season and was looking for $125,000 to re-sign with the Roughriders. Saskatchewan general manager Eric Tillman had been discussing contracts with Hunt’s agent, Paul Sheehy, but it was obvious the Roughriders wanted to reduce the veteran linebacker’s salary after a slip in productivity during the 2007 Grey Cup-winning season. Contract details weren’t available.
