It’s raining green in Riderville

Despite absorbing the extra costs of winning the 2007 Grey Cup, the Saskatchewan Roughriders could post an unprecedented seven-figure profit that will be used to keep the CFL team competitive.
“We’ve never experienced the kind of business success we’re experiencing now,” said Roughriders president/CEO Jim Hopson. “It paves the way for us to take the franchise to a long-term level of excellence.”
The Roughriders have never exceeded a million-dollar profit without the extra benefit of having the Grey Cup played in Saskatchewan, as they did when posting a $2.5-million profit in 2003, or getting a $2.8-million loan forgiven by the provincial government in 2005.
