Jackson and Jackson a winning combo

For the B. C. Lions, one man’s pain is another man’s gain. Again.

Twice this Canadian Football League season, Lions quarterback Buck Pierce has been concussed in a game. And in both of those instances, slotback Paris Jackson caught the next Canadian player of the week award with reliever Jarious Jackson doing the pitching.

Paris Jackson won weekly top Canadian honours for the second time on Tuesday in recognition of his six-reception, 122-yard, two-touchdown performance last Friday against the Toronto Argonauts, both TDs coming in the second half of a 36-28 victory with Jarious Jackson at quarterback.

Paris Jackson also won following a similar scenario on July 16 in Edmonton, when Pierce was forced to leave the game with a concussion in the first quarter. Jarious Jackson came in and fired four touchdown passes as the Lions won 40-22. Paris had nine catches for 126 yards and a touchdown against the Eskimos.

Right now, the hot hand is finding Paris Jackson, who has 39 catches, 530 yards and five touchdowns, making him the CFL’s second-ranked receiver.

Jackson is quick to point out, however, the mutually advantageous relationship of playing with Geroy Simon, who can’t be the object of all of the attention anymore.

“We complement each other,” Paris said.
