Jiminez might be suspended

B.C. Lions’ offensive lineman Jason Jiminez will likely be subjected to a one-game suspension or a fine from the Canadian Football League because of a controversial hit on a Calgary Stampeders’ player in a game last Saturday.
Stamps’ rush end Anthony Gargiulo suffered a serious leg injury on the play, which ended the first half, and sustained multiple breaks and ligament damage. He underwent surgery this week and is sidelined indefinitely due to the severity of the injury.

Jiminez hit Gargiulo from behind, and although it was uncertain whether he did it before or after the whistle had blown, it was deemed to be a dead-ball foul. Jiminez was penalized for rough play, which resulted in an automatic ejection from the game and a 25-yard penalty to his team.
The Stamps indicated their displeasure to the league office about the incident and there are rumbles that Jiminez will be disciplined this week.
If it’s a suspension — and there’s talk it might be — it would prevent Jiminez from playing in the West Division final on November 18 unless he appeals it. B.C. will host the winner of this Sunday’s West semi-final between Calgary and Saskatchewan.
