Joseph named CFLPA player of the year

Kerry Joseph was named the CFL Players’ Association’s pro player of the year Thursday.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback was a runaway winner in fan balloting conducted during Grey Cup week in Toronto with 1,320 votes.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers receiver Milt Stegall was a distant second with 261, followed by Argos QB Michael Bishop (184)and Roughriders receiver Andy Fantuz (165).
Joseph, who was named the league’s outstanding player last week, led the Riders to a 23-19 victory over the Blue Bombers in the Grey Cup.
The CFLPA said fan voting for the 2008 award will take place on its website over the course of the entire season.
