The second-best pro football tenant of the Rogers Centre will set sail on a new season with a new skipper, a talented chief helmsman and plenty of seasoned deckhands.

There is plenty of evidence the Toronto Argonauts, who will share their football home with the Buffalo Bills for one pre-season and one regular season National Football League game in 2008, will continue to be a force to be reckoned with.

Argo GM and vice-president of football operations Adam Rita hinted during the club’s teleconference call yesterday that 24-year CFL veteran Damon Allen, who is set to turn 45 this summer, is expected to make an announcement on his future shortly. Should Allen leave, that would pave the way for the Argos to test talented QB prospects Cody Pickett and Reggie McNeal in training camp.
