The Calgary Stampeders announced on Saturday the signing of non-import defensive back Richard Karikari.

Karikari has played five seasons in the CFL, most recently as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2007. Playing in all 18 regular-season games, the defensive back recorded 25 tackles, two tackles on special teams and two pass knockdowns.

“Acquiring Richard Karikari has added veteran experience to our safety position,” said Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. “Richard possesses outstanding speed, reads routes very well and has excellent ball skills. This addition of a CFL All-Star caliber player will improve our overall defensive team speed and opportunity to create turnovers.”
