Lions Glover extends contract

The B.C. Lions announced on Thursday that import defensive back LaVar Glover has agreed to terms on a contract extension with the team. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not released.

“LaVar developed into a very versatile player for us last season and a key component of our defence,” said Lions general manager and head coach Wally Buono. “A solid defensive secondary is big part of our overall success and having contract extensions in place for LaVar, Dante Marsh and Korey Banks are positive steps for the future of the club.”

Glover originally signed with the Lions as a free agent in 2006 and enjoyed a steady sophomore campaign in 2007 including a temporary switch from field to weak side corner while teammate Dante Marsh recovered from serious injury. His three interceptions, 35 tackles and nine pass knockdowns earned him a 2007 West Division All-Star nod
