Lion’s Joe Smith looking at NFL options

The revamped offensive coaching staff of the Lions could soon be faced with the daunting prospect of retooling for next season without one of its biggest weapons, tailback Joe Smith.
The agent for the CFL’s leading rusher last season said he’s examining offers from a small handful of NFL clubs interested in signing Smith prior to the start of his option year with the Lions.
According to agent Harold Lewis, it’s a matter of time before Smith cashes in on two solid CFL seasons after joining the Lions from NFL Europe.
