No shortage of interest for coaching job in Riderville

Saskatchewan Roughriders general manager Eric Tillman has formally begun his search for a new head coach by interviewing long-time defensive co-ordinator Richie Hall.

Tillman had a three-hour telephone conversation with Hall, who is vacationing in Florida, Saskatchewan’s GM said Monday.

“Starting with Richie — I felt that was the proper thing to do,” Tillman said. “He’s the only one I have spoken to so far. I believe it was appropriate and respectful, based on Richie’s position with our football team.

“He’s a good person and an excellent defensive coach. He also has the benefit of being here and having an understanding of what we’re doing.”

Tillman plans to resume his interviews today, but he refused to put a deadline on when he expects to hire a replacement for Kent Austin.
