Perry knows his mark

Businesses hit the skids every single day. So do friendships.
Fred Perry mixed the two, and the Edmonton Eskimos defensive end is ready to vent his rage.
The target? Saskatchewan quarterback Marcus Crandell, his former friend and co-owner of a car stereo shop in the Queen City. The business is dead. And so is any sense of camaraderie between the two CFL players.
“We’re not speaking,” Perry said Friday in the Green and White room at Mosaic Stadium. “I have nothing to say to him. He has nothing to say to me.”
Maybe not, but Perry is paid good money by the Eskimos to hit the quarterback. And the 33-year-old admits he’ll take great pleasure in doing the job tonight as Edmonton kicks off the regular season against the Grey Cup champion Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Crandell, 34, will start. Perry can’t wait to see him.
“I’m going to have some fun with Marcus,” Perry promised Friday, flashing a gold-toothed grin. “He’s going to see the defence more times than a little bit.”
The Roughriders shocked their faithful fan base over the winter by trading Perry to Edmonton for quarterback Steven Jyles. The move came amid whispers over a money-related dispute between Perry and Crandell.
Saskatchewan general manager Eric Tillman even made a post on the Roughriders’ website to explain the background for the trade and Perry’s request for more money from the team.
