The Edmonton Eskimos have acquired non-import kicker/punter Rob Pikula and a third round selection (23rd overall) in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft from the B.C. Lions in exchange for Edmonton’s third round selection (18th overall) in this year’s Draft.

Signed as a free agent with Saskatchewan in 2006, Pikula was a late cut from Roughriders training camp. He signed in June, 2006 with B.C. and appeared in three games for the Lions that season.

In June, 2007, Pikula was dealt to Winnipeg for a conditional draft pick in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft. The former Western Ontario star played in 15 games for the Blue Bombers last season, primarily as the punter, but Pikula demonstrated excellent proficiency when called on to handle field goals and kickoffs. He enjoyed his best game as a pro on August 10 at B.C. Place when he led the Bombers to 22–21 win over the Lions. On that night, Pikula was good on three field goals, including a 33-yard game winner.
