Players understand Austin situation

News of Kent Austin’s possible departure from the Saskatchewan Roughriders has reverberated far beyond this province’s borders, all the way to his players in the U.S.
To slotback D.J. Flick in Allenwood, Penn. To tailback Corey Holmes in Greenville, Miss.
To quarterback Kerry Joseph, who is heading home to New Iberia, La., for special ceremonies Saturday being held in his honour, the Roughriders players were cautiously aware Thursday their first-year head coach was being interviewed for a job as the offensive co-ordinator at Ole Miss, where Austin had been a record-setting college quarterback.
“I’m pretty sure he would have a good interview,” said Joseph, the CFL’s outstanding player in 2007, who is being feted by the city of New Iberia and the Sugarland Optimist Club for his community involvement with Big Brothers and Big Sisters; he will be given the key to the city.
