Ralph has sure hands

Every day at Edmonton Eskimos camp, it’s pitch-and-catch — four quarterbacks flinging footballs all around the FieldTurf at a dozen or so receivers, give or take a nicked-up Jason Tucker and Kamau Peterson.

In fact, with Tucker and Peterson on the sidelines much of camp, railbirds have been able to get better looks at newcomers like Kelly Campbell, the ex-Minnesota Viking who runs like a stiff-legged colt.

Or at the precise routes being carved by second-year man Fred Stamps, who missed all but two games last season with the Eskimos, but showed some real promise when he did play.

Newcomers Jermaine Jamison, Greg Prator and lanky, go-up-and-get-it Clarence Moore have raised eyebrows. And isn’t that shifty Keith Stokes out there, running pass patterns when he isn’t taking off on a punt return? Why, yes it is.

Amid all that pitching and catching, some of punctuated by the obligatory trash talk, it can be easy to overlook the training-camp work being done by a once-and-future Eskimos wide receiver, Brock Ralph.
