Rider’s re-sign John Chick

Saskatchewan Roughrider General Manager/Vice President of Football Operations Eric Tillman announced today they have re-signed defensive end John Chick to a two-year plus an option contract. They have also signed import defensive end Barron Pullum to a one-year plus an option contract. Financial details of the signings were not released.

Chick (6’4 – 248 lbs) started in 13 regular season games last year, as well as both playoff games and the Grey Cup championship. He finished the regular season with 23 defensive tackles, five quarterback sacks and a 70-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. In the playoffs, Chick picked up two quarterback sacks in the West Final and followed it up with three defensive tackles, a forced fumble and a quarterback sack in the Grey Cup game. The 25-year old was also the Riders nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie.

“John was one of the best rookies in the Canadian Football League and had a major impact on our championship run,” stated Tillman. “We’re delighted John was so eager to sign a new contract and that he will be putting down roots with his family here in Saskatchewan.”
