The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced the signings of three non-imports — offensive lineman Ryan Ackerman, running back Reggie Bradshaw and defensive lineman Kevin Scott — on Tuesday. Financial details were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pound Ackerman was selected in the fourth round (28th overall) by the Roughriders in last year’s CFL draft. After attending training camp with the Roughriders in 2007, he returned to the University of Regina for his fourth season on the offensive line. He anchored an offensive line at the U of R that helped the Rams average a Canada West leading 32.1 points per game last season.
“Ryan competed pretty well last year in camp, and, even with our excellent depth, he earned the right to get another shot,” Roughriders general manager Eric Tillman said in a prepared statement. “Ryan has worked really hard this offseason, and he cares about being the best he can be, which is an attitude our coaches respect.”
Bradshaw, a 6-foot-0, 218-pounder, was drafted in the fifth round (34th overall) by the Riders last year. Bradshaw returned to the University of Montana for his final season, which was cut short by injury after only two games. In 2006, he rushed for 572 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games.
