Riders sign import RB Jamal Robertson

Courtesy Riderville.com:

Saskatchewan Roughrider General Manager Eric Tillman announced today they have signed import running back Jamal Robertson to a one-year plus an option contract. Financial details of the signing were not released.

Robertson (5’9 – 215 lbs) began his pro career with the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe in 2002. After a stellar season with the Fire in which he was named the Offensive MVP of the League and set an NFL Europe record for the longest run from scrimmage (90-yard touchdown), he signed as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers.

In 20 games with the 49ers, Robertson rushed for over 200 yards and had over 800 kickoff return yards. Midway through the 2004 season, Robertson joined the Carolina Panthers as their kick returner and finished the 2004 season near the top of the league with 840 kickoff return yards.

Robertson spent the entire 2005 season with the Carolina Panthers where he dressed in six regular season games. He signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons in 2006, but was released prior to the season.
