Rookie Slay looking to turn some heads

There’s always one who stands out instantly, somebody who looks like he was just put on this earth to light up the bigger Canadian football field and make fans slide to the edge of their seats in anticipation.

And, yeah, it’s just two days into Winnipeg Blue Bomber rookie camp and — like, duh — we know the vets haven’t even unpacked their bags yet. All that said we’d still like to introduce you to one of the men who has already made a big-time impression on Bomber brass and the diehards in the stands.

Ladies and gentlemen, we give you linebacker/safety Dwayne Slay, the former Texas Tech star whose ferocious hits during his days as a Red Raider are still all over the Internet and YouTube.

And if we had to sum the guy up in 10 words or less, we’d do it this way: Dwayne Slay — killer name. Killer game.

“(Hitting) is part of my game, it’s my forte,” said Slay with a devilish grin. “I do love to hear a crowd go, ‘Oooooh’ and ‘Aaaah’ because after one big play they become simultaneous. I do look forward to doing that because it’s fun.
