Slimmer picking for Ti-Cats

Cross Samuel Giguere and Keith Shologan off the list of contenders for the annual Canadian college draft No. 1 pick sweepstakes.
The two Canadian draft eligible players and Rolly Lumbala, of Calgary, inked free-agent contracts with National Football League clubs after being overlooked in that league’s draft on the weekend.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who have the first overall selection in tomorrow’s Canadian college draft, were believed to be considering both players for the first pick.
But that changed when Giguere, a speedy receiver with the University of Sherbrooke, came to terms with the Indianapolis Colts and Shologan, a monstrous 6-foot-2, 295-pound defensive lineman with the University of Central Florida, signed on with the San Diego Chargers.
Lumbala, a fullback with the University of Idaho, signed with the Miami Dolphins.
Giguere had 45 catches for 871 yards last season and impressed the Ticat brass with his blazing wheels at the recent Canadian Football League evaluation camp. The Ticats are shallow with homebrews at the position, which increased speculation that the receiver might be their top choice.
