Sobic wants to write his own script
Courtesy Toronto Star:
As far as Nik Sobic’s concerned, Wall Street can wait.
That’s where a lot of his friends, fellow Harvard economics majors, hang out these days.
“Investment bankers, that kind of thing. Making a ton of money,” said Sobic yesterday without a note of regret.
“One of the ways I look at it is that their workplace is a chair and a desk. My workplace is … well, playing football.”
At least it is when he’s not fuelling his other passion, which is writing – mostly comedy, movies and television his ultimate target.
Sobic, 24 next month, is one of 10 offensive linemen still doing two-a-days at Toronto Argos’ training camp. The CFL club will probably go with seven or eight.
He, therefore, figures to be a long-shot to make it, given, one, that he’s an import; two, that his pro-experience amounts to last year’s training camp with the New Orleans Saints; and, three, that he didn’t quite make it here at his advertised 6-foot-5, 305 pounds.
The 6-foot-5 bit checked out. His weight was more like 275 pounds.
