Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel announced Tuesday that four members of the coaching staff will be retained for the 2008 CFL season.
Hufnagel will be keeping George Cortez as offensive co-ordinator and also confirmed Tuesday that Craig Dickenson will remain as special teams coach, Kris Sweet will continue to coach the offensive line and Mark Kilam will stay with the club as quality-control coach/strength and conditioning coach.
Dickenson joined the Stamps in 2002 as offensive assistant/receivers coach before spending a season with the Montreal Alouettes as running backs coach. He returned in 2004 and coached receivers and running backs before settling in as special teams coach in 2005.
Sweet joined the Stamps prior to the 2006 season after coaching offensive line at Kentucky State, Columbia University and Presbyterian College.
Kilam joined the Stamps in 2005 as strength and conditioning coach and began assisting the defence in mid-season. Last year, he added linebacker coach to his duties. Hufnagel said Kilam’s possible role on the defence in 2008 will be determined by the defensive co-ordinator, who is yet to be named.
