Stamps want decision from Cortez as soon as possible

Will he stay or will he go?
John Hufnagel just hopes he gets an answer soon.
Calgary Stampeders offensive co-ordinator George Cortez, considered a leading candidate to fill Kent Austin’s shoes in Regina, interviewed for the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ vacant head coaching post over the weekend in the southern United States.
Cortez, a veteran of the Canadian Football League wars, is said to be a front-runner for the bench boss job with the defending Grey Cup champions, along with former Green Bay Packers offensive co-ordinator Tom Rossley and Saskatchewan offensive co-ordinator Ken Miller.
“George has an opportunity to be head coach, so I have to wait this out a little bit,” said Hufnagel, the Stampeders’ general manager and head coach, on Monday. “Hopefully the decision is made in the very near future so that we can move on if we need to move on.”
Saskatchewan GM Eric Tillman has insisted he will hire someone he knows well.
