Ticats high on draftees

Here is Hamilton Tiger-Cat GM Bob O’Billovich’s take on the four prospects his club selected in the Wednesday Canadian College Draft.

* Dylan Barker, 6-foot-4, 200-pound free safety for the University of Saskatchewan.

Barker has been on the Cats radar since he performed in the East/West Shrine contest this past winter. There’s a lot to like here. Barker is a two-time all-Canadian who offers a great package of smarts, speed and size. This Tom Cruise look-alike could be the club’s new Rob Hitchcock.

O’Billovich believes Barker was the best athlete available in the draft and the club will give the kid a shot to play defensive back in passing situations, and on special teams this season. O’Billovich believes Barker could become the club’s starting free safety in 2009.
