Tiger-cat updates

Courtesy Hamilton Spectator:

While nobody seems overly concerned about Kenton Keith’s banged-up knee, the running back was expecting to go for an MRI on the joint yesterday afternoon.

“It’s getting better day by day. I’m going to take my time getting healthy before I get back on the field. I’m a big aspect of the team so I want to make sure I’m 100 per cent when I come back,” he said.

Keith was hurt during one of the first drills of the first training camp sessions yesterday.

GM Bob O’Billovich said Keith has lost much of the extra weight he carried while playing for the Indianapolis Colts last season. “He was looking decent until that happened so it’s unfortunate. Kenton’s been around long enough to know you can’t make the club in the tub so he’s got to get that thing healed up and get on the field and show that he’s the best back.”

Today’s training camp session at Ron Joyce Stadium on the Mac campus is just two hours long, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The first two days of main camp have been more than four hours long.

The team is back to the long version tomorrow and Thursday before another short session Friday. On Saturday, the team will conduct its controlled scrimmage, the Black and Gold game, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:55 p.m.
