Winnipeg: Stoddard in, Stokes out

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers welcomed back one veteran and said so long to another yesterday.

Receiver Jamie Stoddard has signed a new contract, keeping him in blue and gold for a ninth straight season.

Stoddard, 30, caught just 11 passes in a backup role last season, but he also plays on several special teams, including the field goal unit, on which he’s the holder for kicker Troy Westwood.

‘INVALUABLE’

“Jamie Stoddard’s value to this team can’t be measured in purely statistical terms,” Bomber GM Brendan Taman said in a statement. “He has made an invaluable contribution on special teams as a holder and as a tackler.”
